# Speaking Practice in Spanish and French

The same speaking-practice activities, in Spanish (`es-es`, `es-mx`) and French (`fr-fr`, `fr-ca`). Set the `dialect` accordingly on any request.

Core **pronunciation** and **fluency** scoring work the same as in [English speaking practice](/use-cases/speaking-practice-for-language-learning.md), but **some features that English supports are not available for Spanish or French** — see the note below, and the authoritative [feature coverage by dialect](/getting-started/supported-languages.md) matrix.

* **Grammar, vocabulary, and coherence** on [score/speech](/api-reference/score-speech.md) (and the `include_speech_score` subscores of [score/task](/api-reference/score-task.md)) — for Spanish and French these endpoints return **pronunciation and fluency only**

**Writing** ([score/writing](/api-reference/score-writing.md)) is available for Spanish **`es-es` only** — not `es-mx`, and not French.

Everything else works for all Spanish and French dialects: word and sentence pronunciation, fluency, markup (`arpa_mark`, in each dialect's own phonetic notation), multiple choice, language detection, task-achievement scoring, [score/phone\_list](/api-reference/score-phone-list.md), and [validate\_text](/api-reference/validate-text.md).
