Use-Cases

The Speechace API can be utilized to analyze the speaker's pronunciation, fluency, grammar, coherence and other detailed speech metrics, offering comprehensive assessments to improve language skills. The API supports the following languages:

  • English (UK)

  • English (US)

  • French

  • French (Canadian)

  • Spanish (Spain)

  • Spanish (Mexico)

Use-cases of SpeechAce API

Speechace API is used to support scripted and spontaneous speech language learning activites, and for comprehensive assessment of spoken language.

Learning & Practice Activities:

  • Word and Sentence Practice with pronunciation feedback at phoneme level

  • Voice driven Multiple Choice

  • Read Aloud (Oral Fluency) with feedback on fluency, speaking rate, pausing, and intonation

  • Spontaneous Speech Practice with scores and feedback on Fluency, Pronunciation, Grammar, Vocabulary, Coherence, and Relevance

  • Phonics, letter sounds and names activities for early readers

Assessment Activities:

With the Speechace API you can create speaking tests to evalaute language proficiency and understand with a general academic focus, or within a particular domain (e.g. medical, customer service, marketing).

  1. Real-Time Speaking Test

    • Use Case: Facilitate real-time speaking exercises with immediate feedback.

    • Application: Students practice speaking on given topics or prompts, receiving instant evaluations on grammar, coherence, fluency, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

  2. Coherence and Argumentation Test

    • Use Case: Enhance students' ability to convey thoughts logically and coherently.

    • Application: Create exercises where students must argue a point or explain a concept. The API evaluates their coherence, assessing how well they structure their arguments and maintain clarity throughout their speech.

  3. Scenario-Based Test

    • Use Case: Implement scenario-based training for real-world applications.

    • Application: Create role-playing situations (e.g., customer service interactions, negotiations) where students must respond appropriately. The API evaluates their performance based on key speaking characteristics, helping them practice contextually relevant skills.

  4. Speech Shadowing Exercise

    • Use Case: Use shadowing techniques to improve fluency and pronunciation.

    • Application: Have students listen to audio recordings of fluent speakers and repeat what they hear. The API assesses their pronunciation and fluency, encouraging them to match the rhythm and intonation of native speakers.

  5. Interactive Phonemic Awareness Assessments

    • Use Case: Evaluate students' ability to recognize and pronounce letter sounds.

    • Application: Use the SpeechAce API to create activities where students identify and pronounce letters while associating them with corresponding sounds (e.g., "A" for "apple").
